Why am I so busy right now?
My mind was busy in my youth. I had an impatience. I also felt the pressure to achieve results quickly before I got old. I thought that when I got older, I would naturally have more room in my mind. However, even if I live for 60 years, there are times when I feel impatient. Sometimes I get really impatient. When I was young, I didn't understand when an old man said, "My heart is busy." But now I think I know a little bit about it. What should we do when our minds are busy?
Why am I in such a hurry? Is my heart busy with my greed or is the world naturally busy? When we look at the world, we only see what our heart wants to see. The world we see is not the entire universe, but the limited world we can see through our eyes. My mind is determined by the circumstances of my living place.
In fact, we have no idea what is going on in outer space. We only need to live in awareness of the world we see through the window of our eyes. The world appears in various forms depending on the state of mind of the person who sees it. When we look at it in a joyful state, the world is full of joy, and when we look at it in a sad state, the world also looks full of sorrow. When we look at it with a happy heart, the world is full of happiness, and when we look at it with an unhappy heart, the world is full of pain.
There are no happy, unhappy, good or bad things in the world itself. However, people divide happy things from unhappy things and distinguish good things from bad things based on the standards set by themselves. It is not the world itself that discriminates like this, but it is what we distinguish as such. Seeing fallen leaves in autumn can make some people happy and others sad. Falling leaves look the same, but the world looks that way depending on whether we are happy or sad.
Looking back, when I was young, when I was dating, the falling leaves were romantic, but when my father was lying in the hospital before he passed away, I felt sadness and helplessness in my heart just looking at the falling leaves. Like this, depending on my heart and situation, I felt the way the leaves fall differently.
When your mind is busy, stop for a moment and look around. Does the tree in front of you look busy? Does the rock in front of you look busy? Do the clouds floating in the sky look busy? Does the nature in front of you look busy?
This world doesn't scream 'busy' by itself. The world looks busy because my heart is busy. My heart is busy because of the greed to quickly achieve what I want. My heart is busy because I want to find stability quickly. You must know that when I put down my greed and my mind rests, the world will also rest. In my 60 years of living, things have never gotten better because my mind has been busy. The situation didn't get better just because my mind was busy, only my mind was impatient and busy.
If you want to relax, you can drop everything and just relax. If you really want to rest, put down all your greed and rest. If you want to rest, just focus your mind on the present. A busy mind thinking of various things to do is just an illusion about the past and future. If you focus your mind on the present, there is no past and no future, only now. If you don't cling to the past and the future, you can stay calm in the present.
There is a saying, ‘Buddha’s eyes only see Buddha, and pigs only see pigs’. It means that the world looks different depending on the state of mind of the person who is looking at it. There is nothing we can blame others, the environment, or the world. The cause of our happy and painful emotions about the world lies in our hearts. When our hearts are troubled, the world is also suffering, and when our hearts are happy, the world is also happy. When our hearts are busy, the world is busy, and when our hearts are free, the world is also free. From now on, don't blame others, don't blame the environment, don't blame the world. Everything in the world depends on our mind.
